The Liebster Award

Hello you awesome people! I have been nominated by the lovely Ines at MsCarrowl for the Liebster Award. I want to thank her for nominating me even though I’m not sure I’m considered a ‘new’ blogger anymore. Getting nominated for awards is always fun and makes me feel like I’m doing something right with my blog. I love that the word Liebster that is derived from the German word that means sweetest, kindest, nicest, beloved, lovely, etc. What’s also great about this award is that it’s meant to give recognition to other bloggers, especially new ones!

I’ve seen a couple different renditions of the rules for this award, but I’m going to follow Ines’ lead and use the rules she posted.

Here are The Rules:

  • Thank the blogger(s) who nominated you
  • Answer the 11 questions the blogger gives you
  • Nominate 11 bloggers that you think are deserving of the award
  • Let the bloggers know you nominated them
  • Give them 11 questions of your own

I figured that Ines’ questions were the same asked of her, so those are the questions I’ll be answering 🙂

Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging, and particularly this blog, roughly two years ago: January 4, 2014. I initially started this blog as a way to keep track of and discuss my classic novel reading challenge. It soon grew to be an all around bookish blog, which then evolved into being a general blog with a particular love for books.

What was the last book you’ve read?

The last book I read was One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey.

What is the last film you saw?

The last film I saw in theaters was Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The last film I watch otherwise, in this case on Netflix, was Pride & Prejudice (the one with Keira Knightley).

Where would you like to go on holiday next?

Hmm, I almost want to say Hawaii with family because I’ve never been, but I also want to say Prague to visit a friend. Can I do both??

What are your top 5 favorite books?

Like choosing my favorite children if I had any … in no particular order: Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen, Moon Called by Patricia Briggs, Just Listen by Sarah Dessen, Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (it was hard to choose just one).

Guilty pleasures – be it food, books, TV shows, films (up for interpretation)

Ooh, there are so many! I don’t think I necessarily feel guilty about it but I looove cookies! Jane the Virgin and The Vampire Diaries are definitely guilty pleasures for TV shows.

Films or books?

I may love both, but my love for books is far greater!

If you were given a chance to meet anyone – anyone at all – dead or alive, who would it be?

This one is always hard! I immediately went to wanting to meet Sherlock Holmes, but he’s fictional (I still would love to meet him). Jane Austen, Alan Rickman, Christian Kane, Einstein, and so many more!

Planned or spontaneous?

I really wish I could say spontaneous, but I am definitely a planner. But I do enjoy those rare spontaneous moments.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Oh man, in five years I’ll be 30. Eek! That’s weird to think about. I would like to be living somewhere, anywhere other than Southern California and being happy and content about where I am. I hope to have a job that I love, preferably in granting or in non-profit. I also definitely would love to still be blogging 🙂

Favorite childhood memory?

Playing tag and pretty much any memory from camping 🙂

Okay, now it’s time for my nominees and questions! Nominees first (in no particular order) … drumroll …

Kaytlyn @ The Bohemian Bookworm
Samantha @ Dream by Day Book Reviews
Kendra @ Reads and Treats
Michelle @ Chelles Life in Books
Stephanie @ Adventures of a Bibliophile

So, I know it isn’t eleven, but five is still pretty good right? Also, there is absolutely no pressure for you to accept this award, but either way know that you’re all awesome! 🙂

My Questions:

  1. Why did you start your blog?
  2. What’s your favorite part about blogging?
  3. What are you currently reading?
  4. Where was the last, new place you visited? (Doesn’t necessarily have to be a city or country)
  5. Coffee or tea?
  6. What’s your favorite season and why?
  7. What is your current obsession?
  8. What was the last song you listened to?
  9. What’s your favorite thing to do on a Sunday?
  10. Tell me a random fact about yourself!

So, there are my questions, I hope that everyone I nominated will accept this award and I can’t wait to read everyone’s answers!

Happy Reading!
