From the Page to the Screen

During my usual morning break, I skimmed a couple news sites and then on a whim, decided to search for what books are currently being optioned for the big screen – or little screen. I was surprised by some of the ones I found.

From the website, Optioned, I found out the following:

Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle will be a mini-series on FX. This was posted in November 2015. Link here. I searched this and there are a lot of other articles regarding this. This is also on my list to read this year, so perfect timing!

In september 2015, it was posted that Jospeh Heller’s Catch-22 will get a TV adaptation as well. Link here. Same thing as above, more than one article reporting this. Perfect timing for this too since I recently read it.

Also in November 2015, it was posted that there will be a live adaptation of The Little Mermaid, where Chloe Grace Moretz will be Ariel. Link here.
There is actually a second live action Little Mermaid set to be released this year, starring Rosie Mac. IMDB link here. These two movies are sure to be great, I can’t wait!

This one I heard a few months ago, but The Circle by Dave Eggers is set to be adapted for a movie with Emma Watson and Tom Hanks starring. Link hereThis novel is actually on my TBR list; I’ll have to make sure to read it before the movie, as always.

I found these from novelheartbeat.com. This post was posted May 2015. Some of these I know about, but still as excited now as I was when I first heard about them. Links go to the IMDB page.

GracelingI read this book a couple years ago and really liked it. However, I did not know that it has been optioned for a movie. I hope it does, I think it would be good.

A Great and Terrible BeautyI read this series so many years ago and I immediately wanted to know if it was going to ever be a movie or series. I’m pretty sure this has been in development for more than a year, let’s hope it happens!

Looking For AlaskaThis was actually the first and only book I’ve read by John Green and loved it! I read it years ago, but it’s still exciting that it’s set to come out in 2017.

The Night CircusThis is on my TBR list and it’s still in development according to IMBD. The premise sounds like it would be interesting, both book and movie.

Shadow and BoneI still have to finish this series, but it’ll be an interesting movie for sure! I just hope they don’t do the split the last book into two movies thing, especially if they don’t really have to.

Ready Player OneI think I’m most excited about this one. The movie is coming out either next year or 2018. Either way, I cannot wait!

Oh, and let’s not forget the live action Beauty and the Beast!

I know there are many more, but I didn’t want to overload this post.

So tell me, which ones are you the most excited about – on and off this list? Which book or series do you hope will make it to the screen that isn’t planned yet?

Happy Reading!
