Breakdown of My Hogwarts House Sorting

J. K. Rowling’s magical world of Harry Potter was a world that many of us across the globe desperately wanted to be a part of. We wanted to be able to walk the halls of Hogwarts; we wanted to be a part of the magic and I think most of all, we wanted to know which house the sorting hat would place us in.

I think I was bored one day and stumbled across Buzzfeed’s sorting hat quiz and I thought, why not? Especially since I think Pottermore has slightly changed something, because I always got a different house the few times I had to make a new login and retake the test. There are three different tests I took: Buzzfeed’s, Time’s, and Personality Lab’s tests.

What’s different and cool about these three tests is that it breaks down what percentage of your personalty matches with each Hogwarts’ House.

So let’s jump in and see my results!

Buzzfeed’s Sorting

You can take their test here.

Buzzfeed’s quiz is fairly short, but I think it surprisingly gave interesting and possibly insightful analysis based on House percentages.

Analysis: You definitely belong in Ravenclaw, but you have a kindness that sets you apart from most. While some Ravenclaws can be seen as slightly haughty or intimidating, your Hufflepuff side means you are more approachable, and therefore have an easier time making friends. Despite your softness, you find it easy to detach yourself from emotional situations and give objective viewpoints, making you the perfect person to go to for advice. Your slight compatibility with Slytherin house suggests a determination to succeed, though not at the expense of traits from your more dominant houses.

I have to tell you, this matches my personality fairly well. I actually always thought that I was more Hufflepuff with Ravenclaw tendencies. I guess it makes sense that I more Ravenclaw with my love of reading, knowledge, and being pretty curious about generally everything. I definitely have a lot of Hufflepuff though; I’m told that I’m very kind and thoughtful.

I was at first very surprised that I had any compatibility with Slytherin, but the explanation kind of makes sense.

Time Magazine’s Sorting

You can take their test here.

Time’s quiz is longer than Buzzfeed’s at 21 questions (I think Buzzfeed had maybe 10). This quiz also contributes to a personality research project (which you don’t have to partake in).

I’m very curious to see how from this test, my percentages are fairly different from Buzzfeed’s. I wonder if it has to do with there being more questions or more general questions; Buzzfeed’s questions had more of a Harry Potter wording to them compared to Time’s. Regardless, the only difference is that the Time results show no compatibility with Slytherin, though I’m still Ravenclaw first, Hufflepuff second.

Personality Lab’s Sorting

You can take their test here.

This test is the longest with 60 questions designed with strongly agree/disagree, a little agree/disagree, and neutral/no opinion answer options. This test is also being used for research into personalities.

What’s interesting with these results is that I’m Hufflepuff first, Ravenclaw second, though with only a two point difference. It’s also interesting that these results show me having a higher compatibility with Gryffindor than the other test results. I don’t see myself as daring or cunning at all – I totally thought that the scores for Gryffindor and Slytherin would be lower.

I had a lot of fun taking these tests and seeing my results. I like knowing that I was always right in thinking that I would have ended up a Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw.

What House are you in or think you’re in? Did you take any of these tests to find out? Let me know what House you’re in, I would love to know!
