My Favorite Book to Screen Adaptations

After doing my post about book to screen adaptations that I’m excited for, I decided to expand on the idea. This week’s Bookish Thought will cover book adaptations that I really like.

Unfortunately, not all of these will be books that I’ve had the chance to read yet. Though they are probably waiting patiently on my TBR.

Favorite Adaptations

Fight Club

I will confess that I watched the movie before reading the book. I also don’t think I knew it was a book the first time I watched the movie. I finally picked up the book and was very glad that I did. I also thought the movie did a pretty good job of adaptation the book.

Lord of the Rings

I love movies! I also cannot wait to read the trilogy (finally!) within the next month or so!

To Kill a Mockingbird

Such a classic. I loved the book when I read it for a high school class and I liked the movie too; especially that they had to do it in black and white, which was a fun experience.

True Grit

This is one that I have yet to read the book; it is on my list and my library has it, I just haven’t been in the mood to read it yet.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

I actually didn’t read the books until a couple months before the sixth book came out. One of my best friends loves the series and grew up on it like many did and dragged me to go see the first movie. I remember liking the movie at the time.

Memoirs of a Geisha

Both the book and the movie were absolutely beautiful!

Pride and Prejudice

I finally read the book a few years after the above movie came out and loved it! I’ve seen almost every adaptation of this book, but there is just something about this movie that I love.

I’m sure there are more that I don’t remember, but I mostly wanted to show love for Fight Club, LOTR, and Pride & Prejudice.

What are some of your favorite adaptations?
