Happy Tuesday and Happy December! I cannot believe that we’re just around the corner from 2020. I probably say something similar every year, but it still surprises me. Parts of this year definitely went by fast, both in my work and personal life.
I’m pretty excited about this holiday season, mostly because I decided to do the TBTB Secret Santa this year, which for some reason I never knew it existed and just happened upon it on the last day to sign up for this year.
I’m sure most of you understand the joy of receiving and giving books and bookish items to others. I’m definitely feeling that joy!
Books as Gifts
These are books that will cover most genres and ones that I think any reader of that genre would enjoy!
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon (Historical Fiction, Mystery)
Meet Cute by Various (Romance)
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch (Sci-Fi, Thriller)
Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Reid Jenkins (Fiction, Music lover)
Sadie by Courtney Summers (YA, Mystery/ Thriller, Podcast lover)
Dark Places by Gillian Flynn (Mystery/ Thriller, lover of atmospheric writing)
Obviously, this is not an extensive list; they’re just the ones that popped out to me the most.
Non-Books as Gifts
Candles, socks, totes, bookmarks, etc. There are so many bookish gifts to give that are not books or they’re items that any reader could use.
I got my Secret Santa person a bookish candle from Wick & Fable that is supposed to smell like the genre Fantasy. They have many to choose from. There’s also FrostBeard Studio. I also found Highland Bluff Studio, Novelly Yours Candles, Flick the Wick, and there are more on Etsy of course.
Probably the most known company for socks (among other clothing) is Out of Print. There’s the Sock Drawer that has some and Bookish Gifts (which also has other items). And no surprise that Etsy has many options as well.
Bookmarks are also a fun idea, especially if you get it while on vacation or get one designed for a particular book or series. I always love getting the free bookmarks from local indie stores.
I personally cannot wait until I have my own library and pick out some bookends! You can find a wide array at most stores, like Target, Macy’s, and HomeGoods.
I love mugs. There are so many cute ones out there! I have one that says Ssh, I’m Reading. Out of Print has quite a few to choose from as does Etsy. Amazon will also have many available.
I’ve seen many literary inspired tea (though not coffee). I’ve always been curious. The one company I know well (though haven’t tried) is the Literary Tea Co. There’s the Simply Bookish Co. I found BooksnLeaf, a company called Rosie Lea Tea does a literary collection, I found that Spread the Booklove has many options, and there is of course Etsy.
