Taylor Swift Lover Book Tag

I love a good T Swift song and so when I saw this tag on Novel Glimpse, I wanted to give it a try. Plus, it’s been a while since I’ve last done a book tag post. Which are always fun to do.

The Rules:

1. Link back to the original creator of the book tag, Nish & Ngoc
2. Thank the person that tagged you and link to their post.
3. TAG AS MANY SWIFTIES AS YOU WANT! (Or non-Swifties, maybe inspire them to listen to our Queen)

The Prompts

I Forgot That You Existed – A book that you want to forget you ever read

The Sky Is Yours by Chandler Klang Smith

This is definitely the first book to come to mind. I remember being really intrigued when I picked this up and ended up with a lot of weird mixed feelings, many not even close to being positive.

Cruel Summer – A book you turn to when the going gets rough

Just Listen by Sarah Dessen

I’m not sure that I could really tell you why, but something about the characters and Dessen’s writing. Runner up would be Moon Called by Patricia Briggs.

Lover – Your book OTP

Oooh. Well speaking of Moon Called, Adam and Mercy are one of my favorite couples.

The Man – Your fave kick-ass female protagonist

Even though Mercy from the above definitely applies, I’m going to choose someone else. Scrolling through some of my favorite books, I remembered Myfanwy Thomas from The Rook by Daniel O’Malley. She’s not really hardcore, but definitely badass in her own way.

The Archer – A book with good mental health representation

I’m not sure how well it fits into this prompt, but it deserves praise. What Unbreakable Looks Like by Kate McLaughlin.

I Think He Knows – Your fave fictional crush

Oooh. This one is hard. Can I choose any and all of the men in Penny Reid’s books? Okay fine I’ll narrow it down … Cletus Winston from Beard Science and Dan O’Malley from Marriage of Inconvenience.

Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince – Fave angsty romance

So I looked through my books and I couldn’t really find anything that I remember being angsty.

Paper Rings – Book with an ugly cover that you absolutely adored

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

So the cover isn’t ugly, per se, but it’s really only the color that stands out.

Cornelia Street – A book or series you never want(ed) to end

Okay I do have to say the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs. It’s one of my favorite worlds and I never want it to end.

Death By A Thousand Cuts – A book or series that deserved a better ending

The Queens of Innis Lear by Tessa Gratton

It wasn’t a terrible ending, I just thought it could have been more powerful? I don’t know.

London Boy – Your fave British male protagonist

I’m currently reading More Than Maybe by Erin Hahn, and Luke Greenly is definitely my fave British boy.

Soon You’ll Get Better – A book that your heart will never recover from

Sadie by Courtney Summers. The ending wasn’t quite what I wanted or expected, so I’m always going to wonder.

False God – A character you would leap into the burning pits of hell to save

I think I would do that for Sadie. There’s also Mercy (though she wouldn’t need saving haha).

You Need To Calm Down – A book with a powerful message

The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown. Nothing fiction stood out to me. There a lot of nonfiction that stand out. This book helped me understand that striving for perfect isn’t going to make me happy, etc.

 ME! – Best character development

Circe by Madeline Miller. I don’t know if it would technically be the best, but I thought the development was at least interesting.

Daylight – If you could only read one book or series again and again, what would it be?

Mercy Thompson series … but I already do this haha. I will add The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon as well.

Wow, that was a long book tag! But it was fun although I definitely need to start reading beyond the same two genres it seems. Doing book tags always makes me want to drop everything and just read the day away from some reason.
