Review Policy

July 7, 2020 update: I am currently not accepting review requests at this time. I will post another update when I am once more. Thank you.

I accept review requests in the Fiction, Mystery/ Thriller, Romance, and Fantasy (including Urban Fantasy) genres. However, as a reader, I enjoy reading outside of my comfort zone every once in a while, so I may accept books from other genres. I accept review copies from large publishers, independent publishers, and from requesting authors. In every review post, I will indicate that I received a free copy and from where, for an honest review.

While I will do my best to review books in a timely manner, in some cases, there might be a delay. Also, please be aware I can’t accept every review request.

Please note that I do not own an e-reader. However, I do have the iBooks and Kindle app, so, review requests for e-books must be in a PDF format or a format compatible with those apps. Otherwise, I can only accept paperback or hardback books for review.

I am committed to honesty in my reviews.  I do not receive any compensation or plan to receive any compensation for my reviews (cash advertising, sponsorship, or paid topic insertions, etc.), other than the occasional free review copy from a publisher or author. The views and opinions expressed on this blog are purely my own. Please be assured that a free book will in no way affect my commitment to honesty in my reviews. If I love it or hate it, you’ll know. Either way, please don’t send hate mail if I give your book a bad review. I am simply critiquing the book and not the author personally.

How I Review/ Rate

I do not have a specific rating system. I usually give a basic summary in my own words, sometimes in addition to the official summary, and then explain what I liked and disliked in regards to the plot, characters, etc. You can find an example of a review here or head over to my review index here.

After posting a review on my blog, I then post a review on Goodreads. Please note that I am slowly adding my reviews to bigger consumer sights like Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

If you would like to submit a request for a book to be reviewed please email me at imbookedblog (at) gmail (dot) com.

In your email, please include:  

  • Title and author of the book you would like me to review
  • Cover image to use in the review (if unavailable, that’s okay)
  • A small teaser about your book.  Think the blurb on the back of a book. I may use this teaser in my post. If you prefer me NOT to do so, please indicate that in your email.  Please do not give away the ending or any major twists that may occur.

Please note that I won’t necessarily review books in the order I receive them.
