Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books to Read For a Little Heartfelt Sweetness

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the wonderful Broke and the Bookish.

Happy Tuesday!

This week’s theme is a freebie of sorts … Ten Books To Read if You’re In the Mood for X. This was a little hard for me. I didn’t want to go an easy route and end up recommending the classics I read. This one is tough because I haven’t read many books outside my classics in the last couple years. And I haven’t kept track of all the books I’ve read consistently on Goodreads. I almost did ‘darker’ books, but decided to go this other route. Though I may do a bookish thought post that would talk about the darker books.

Anyways … here are ten books that I think fall into the sweet and/or heartfelt story category. I actually went back through my Goodreads to see if any books I read years ago would be worth recommending and there were! (titles link to Goodreads)

The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

I’m sure some of you have read this novel or heard about it. I thought it was a very sweet and funny story. I liked the unexpected heartfelt moments too.

Little Beach Street Bakery by Jenny Colgan

The fact that it has bakery in the title gives a clue for why this is on the list, but it is actually a sweet story. There are a few bumps like any story really, but the sweet moments are the ones I remember.

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Littleprince

I don’t think I really need to explain this one, the little prince himself is very sweet.

Meet Me At the Cupcake Cafe by Jenny Colgan

Another Jenny Colgan, she just knows how to do sweet while actually setting the story in a sweet world, bakeries!

Lottery by Patricia Wood

759175

I actually just rediscovered this one on my bookshelf the other night. I remember the main character, Perry, being very sweet. I think I might do a reread of this soon.

Girls in White Dresses by Jennifer Close

Okay, this might be a slight stretch, but I do think this falls into the heartfelt category. I remember this book ultimately being about relationships of all kinds and learning who you are.

Apart From the Crowd by Anna McPartlin

I’m not sure I can really pinpoint what it is about this book, but I think it’s similar to White Dresses in that it’s all about relationships and finding yourself after being lost.

The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

22628

This might be a stretch too, but I just love this book.

Chocolat by Joann Harris

321574

I will admit that I read this book because it’s title is named after one of the things that I love most: chocolate. I love this book. I think it fits the sweet category.

The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd

37435

I think this is one of those heartfelt stories. Lily, the main character, was a very likable one. I have yet to see the movie though..

So there are my ten books that I recommend if you’re looking for a sweet read or a heartfelt read or something with a little of both. Since I read most of these before the start of my blog, I’m curious to know who has read these? What did you think? What books would you add that are sweet and/or heartfelt?

Happy Reading!

    • Yeah, I knew it was a bit of a stretch, but I think when I put it on here I was thinking more about the characters and their relationships 🙂
